Another home appearance for Tatran Presov against ambitious Vojvodina

Tatran Presov

Slovakian Tatran Presov will host the final clash of the third round in Group A. Slavko Goluza's squad will meet with the Serbian champions, Vojvodina on Saturday, the 28th of September. The match is scheduled for 5:15 PM (CET).

So far, Vojvodina have two big victories behind them. Aftey they surprised Nexe in the season's opener, they beat Beijing Sport University earlier this week. Currently, they are holding the third position on the table, while Tatran Presov are one position behind them.

On the other side, home team didn't have such a great opening of the season. Suprisingly, they lost to Motor Zaporozhye on the home court even though they had a few goals advantage just five minutes before the end of the match. After that loss, Tatran Presov managed to pick themselves up and won their first points in the match against Nexe.

This will be the second chance for Tatran to win precious points on the home court, and the atmosphere from the sidelines will be their biggest motivation.

Slavko Goluza, Tatran Presov coach:
After the loss against Cocks in the EHF Champions League, a long trip home is in front of us. So our first task will be to regenerate and be ready for the match against Vojvodina. They are a good team and we know this from the recent match at Doboj tournament. That’s why we expect a tough match. And as we could see from our last few matches, if we don’t play well in defence our opponents will have the chance to use that in their favour. That’s why the improvement in defence will be our main task.

Janus Lapajne, Tatran Presov player:
Vojvodina showed in their first matches that they are without a doubt good team. They are a physically strong team with talented players in their roster. We will have to fight hard for the three points and we must deliver a win in front of our fans. As a team, we must put the previous losses behind us and find a positive break.

Boris Rojevic, Vojvodina coach:
Five players from the first squad will not go to Slovakia: Stankovic, Grozdanic, Pribak, Verkic and Milasevic. We had a very tight schedule and this resulted in several injuries. The older players are quite tired. We must not take risks because we have a lot of others important matches in front of us. So, the match against Tatran Presov is a chance for younger players to show what they know.

Rajko Prodanovic, Vojvodina player:
We had a lot of matches in a short period of time. In front of us is the same tight schedule. We are lucky that our roster is better then it was last season, so we can count on more players. Tatran are a very good team, one of the best in the League. Our expectation is to play the best that we can.
