Another amazing victory for Telekom Veszprem on the home court. They were better than PPD Zagreb 36:28 (17:15).
Croatian champions had an amazing start of the match. Josip Vekic scored the first goal for PPD Zagreb, while Matej Asanin had two amazing back to back saves.
But, it all went downhill after that for PPD Zagreb when Telekom Veszprem scored a few fast-break goals and secured three-goals advantage. PPD Zagreb's coach, Branko Tamse called for a time-out after which the squad woke up. They tied the result in the 21st minute. But, by the end of the first half, Telekom Veszprem were two goals up.
Even though PPD Zagreb tied again at the beginning of the second half, they were not able to turn the result into their favour. Veszprem's advantage was getting bigger as the match went on. The amazing atmosphere on the home court and loud fans carried the Hungarian champions towards the new victory.
The best scorers in Telekom Veszprem's squad were Manuel Strlek and Blaz Blagotinsek, both with 5 goals. Matej Hrstic netted 5 times for PPD Zagreb.
Telekom Veszprem will play their next match against the newcomers, Spartak while PPD Zagreb will continue their SEHA adventure against Meshkov Brest.
