Motor Zaporozhye to host Croatian vice-champions Nexe

Motor Zaporozhye

It will be a first time for Nexe to travel to Ukraine as a part of the SEHA – Gazprom League. Croatian vice-champions will meet with Ukrainian Motor Zaporozhye on Saturday, 5th of October at 5:15 PM (CET).

After a great start of the season and three victories in a row, Motor Zaporozhye have faced their first defeat against Vojvodina a few days ago in Novi Sad. But, despite that, Ukrainian team are still holding the second position on the table in Group A with 9 points.

On the contrary, Nexe entered the season with three defeats. But, they secured their first points in the match against Beijing Sport University at the start of this week. Now they are placed on the fifth position in that same group. Nexe will travel to Ukraine without some key players. Thunders' coach Hrvoje Horvat still can't count on Jaganjac, Vida, Srsen and Tomic.

It will be an interesting clash between a well-known SEHA name and the newcomers that showed that they can do wonders on the court.

This match will be streamed on Arena Sport (in Croatia), X Sport (in Ukraine), VKontakte (in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine) and ehfTV.

Hrvoje Horvat, Nexe coach:
We are playing better and better, our form is growing and we are correcting all parts of the play with which we were not satisfied in the previous matches. Also, we want to compose a new players and we are on the good path to make that happen. We have problems with injuries but I hope that we will fix this soon. We will give our best against home team Motor Zaporozhye and we want to play as best as we can. Zaporozhye score a lots of goals, they play „fast centre“ and „seventh player“ so our defense must be moving constantly and dense. The biggest danger is their left side so we must be very concetrated.

Marin Jelinic, Nexe player:
In the last match we won and took three points but it was easier clash than the one that is in front of us. We will meet with amazing European team so we must  work very hard if we want to secure another points. This season we have a lot of new players, so we need some time until everything falls into the right place.

Mykola Stepanets, Motor Zaporozhye coach:
In the match against Nexe we will use the players of the main team. Today, after the injury, team captain Zakhar Denisov is recovering. I can’t say whether he will step the court in match on the 5th of October. We do not wait for an easy clash at home. The opponents have good throwers in the back line. They play great linear, they feel the area perfectly, cut off the player in defense. All Nexe players keep the pace of the match fast for the whole 60 minutes.

Gennadiy Komok, Motor Zaporozhye goalkeeper:
In addition to the throws from the back line and the good tactics from our opponents, I would also highlight the winger players. Nexe are a good fighting team, but we will try to win. Our guys give their best in training and practice simulated combinations. In the home arena, we want to please the fans with a spectacular and beautiful handball.
