The newcomers from Russia, Spartak secured their first ever victory in the SEHA - Gazprom League. They were better than Serbian Metaloplastika 36:32 (18:19).
From the very beginning, it was obvious that the match will be tough. The teams played great both in the defense and attack. For the most time, when Metaloplastika would be one goal up, the home team would soon equalize. The guests had a few opportunities to secure bigger advantage. In the 10th minute, Veselin Vukovic's squad were two goals up, but didn't manage to score for a 3 goals advantage. The same situation was in the 28th minute when Metaloplastika was in the lead 18:16. But, because of a few of their mistakes, the result on the half-time was 19:18 for Metaloplastika.
Home team opened the second half with a lot of energy. They even got in the lead for the first time in the match. With goal by goal play, neither team managed to secure advantage bigger than two goals. That was until the last 10 minutes, when Spartak simply stepped up their play. With only 5 minutes on the clock and four goals advantage, it was clear that Spartak would win the points.

The best scorers in Metaloplastika's squad were Viktor Maticic and Milan Milic who scored 8 goals each. On the other side, Dmitrii Kovalev was the biggest star in the home team with 9 goals.
