Meshkov keep top spot hopes alive with a win over PPD Zagreb

Meshkov - PPD

Meshkov Brest have with a 33:29 win over PPD Zagreb on Tuesday evening managed to keep the hopes of finishing the regular part of the season on top of Group B alive. In order to pull that off, Belarusian champions have to win the remaining two matches but also hope for Telekom Veszprem to make a mistake.

Both teams played without some of their key players today and in the end hosts managed to take a well-deserved win. ‘Lions’ arrived to Brest without Horvat, Bicanic and Asanin but even without them, they proved they can be a dangerous opponent.
Home-team decided the match in the middle of the second half storming off to a 24:19 lead which PPD Zagreb never managed to cut. They managed to come close but Ivan Pesic sealed the deal in this one with a little less than five minutes left until the final buzzer making a crucial save and not allowing guests to cut the lead to only one.

Mikita Vailupau continued with quality outings finishing the match with seven goals while Alexander Shkurinskiy and Viacheslau Shumak netted five each. Filip Vistorop on the other side scored seven for Zagreb while David Mandic added six.

In their next SEHA League appearances Meshkov will in December travel to Russian capital Moscow to play Spartak and PPD Zagreb will play against Spartak the next week.
