Steaua win a ’run&gun’ match against Meshkov
Steaua Bucuresti have managed to keep the clean sheet at home in SEHA - Gazprom League defeating Meshkov Brest with 42:33 (16:15) for what is now their second SEHA loss in a row. In a ’run&gun’-paced match hosts didn’t let Belarusian champs take advantage of them scoring 42 goals which is the most Meshkov have ever allowed anyone in SEHA - Gazprom League and first time for their opponents to pass 40-goal mark after 2012 when they lost 40:36 against Tatran Presov.
Stefan Vujic played a good match as he and Javier Humet opened the gap early (8:4). However, coach Andrei Mochalov and his young roster refused to give up and were able to completely get back into this one with a little less than a minute to go until the half-time when Yaschanka levelled the match at 15:15.
Guests however weren’t able to maintain the same level in the second half letting Steaua seal the deal in this one in the middle of the second half after a 5:0 series led by Vujic, Humet and Vegar. After that, hosts were able to bring the match to a close dominantly securing a quite big +9 win in the end.
Stefan Vujic delivered a splendid performance scoring seven goals from as much attempts while Krsto Milosevic added six. Alexander Bachko was on the other hand tonight the biggest threat for home-team’s goalies finishing the match with ten goals.
