PPD Zagreb extend good series in Novi Sad
After they managed to pull off one of the biggest surprises of young EHF Champions League season last week defeating Flensburg away from home, PPD Zagreb on Sunday evening extended good series defeating Serbian champs Vojvodina 23:20 on road in Novi Sad.
Multiple Croatian champs arrived to Serbia without their head-coach Lino Cervar with his assistant Tonci Valcic leading the team but the approach remained the same as ‘Lions’ kept a high level of performance despite of a long and exhausting trip to Germany and back.
Hosts played a solid match led by coach Boris Rojevic but it was not enough for them to stun PPD Zagreb and they’ll still have to work for their second win of the season after the opening one in Nis against Zeleznicar.
Guests weren’t able to open the gap in the first with Vojvodina being able to stay close in that period of the match. In the second half however, PPD Zagreb’s defense started playing way better and more aggressive opening the gap to five (12:17) early into the second and sealing the deal in this one at that point.
Zlatko Horvat finished the match with five for Zagreb while Milos Grozdanic on the other hand netted as much for Vojvodina.
