Popovski scores 10, Gjorgjeski shines with 18 saves as Vardar cruise past Vojvodina
Expected and easy win for Vardar against Vojvodina. In the end 37:22 (17:13) win for ‘Red&Black’ which will only solidify their top position on league’s table and prolong their SEHA winning streak to 15. Macedonians now have 27 points - 9 more than Meshkov Brest which is placed second.
From the very first minute coach Raul Gonzales decided to give younger players Martin Popovski, Vlado Nedanovski and goalkeeper Daniel Gjorgjeski a chance they ended up using perfectly - young goalie finished the match with 18 saves, 12 in first half only while on the other side Popovski led scorers with 10.
Hosts were dominating the match from the first minute and there were simply no signs of Vojvodina stunning reigning champs in front of their fans tonight. Difference was 4-5 during first 30 minutes and later it just kept on growing all the way to final +15. Guests hoped they might finish the match with goal difference being 10 goals or less but quality difference between the opponents was simply too big for something like that to happen. Dusan Trifkovic scored 6 for Vojvodina while Jandric and Jelic combined for 13 saves.
