Zeleznicar 1949 - Steaua Bucuresti 28:21 (13:9)
(Pavlovic 6, Milanovic, Vejin 4; Stosic 13 saves / Milosevic 6, Constantina 5, Rapciuga 4)
Ovidiu Mihaila, Steaua coach:
Our goal here today was to play strong defense and be fast in transition but our roster was limited and we weren't able to do so. By that, we lacked focus when shooting allowing their goalie to grab way too many saves. We have a new Romanian championship game in only two days so it's time to focus on that and hopefully deliver a better performance than today.
Andrei Merla, Steaua player:
I think we delivered a poor defensive performance today. Attack was not that bad but it was limited as we could count on only 12 players. We knew we'll have to play here without a playmaker but we didn't really expect this result.
Veselin Vujovic, Zeleznicar coach:
I agree with my colleague coach Mihaila about the fact that Darko Stosic and his goalkeeping performance was key for us today. I want to say I respect Romanian handball and all the work they're putting in and I understand it's not easy to play in several competitions when you're dealing with as much injuries. We do not have perfect conditions to achieve best possible results but what makes me happy is that we're obviously growing and rising.
Nemanja Milovanovic, Zeleznicar player:
This was our best performance of the season. We minimized the number of turnovers, played way more aggressive in defense than we usually do and the results and quite visible.
