Remarkable first half performance brings Zagreb a clear win over Nexe

PPZ Zagreb - Nexe

Kasim Kamenica has in his first SEHA - Gazprom League match as PPD Zagreb' coach managed to lead his team towards a dominant 27:19 victory over his former team and biggest Croatian rivals Nexe Nasice.

Hosts were flying in the first half completely deciding winner in their season opener against the team of Nasice with Zlatko Horvat already sealing the deal in this one scoring his sixth for final 16:6 after first 30 minutes. Interesting is that Dobrivoje Markovic scored 6 as well with Skok and his 8 first-half saves being match-deciding factor in this one. Nexe were simply caught out of rhythm with 'Lions' setting the tempo too high for guests who are still dealing with making the team full of newly acquired players to function well.

Coach Horvat has managed to make things work better for his team in the second half but the goal gap Zagreb created in the first was simply too much for his players to catch. Their defense was however working quite well as they have, with a bit more than 10 minutes before the final buzzer, managed to reduce the gap to only 5. Unfortunately for their fans that was as close as they would eventually come with Zagreb in the end taking a clear 27:19 win.

Markovic and Horvat finished the match as PPD Zagreb’ best scorers with 7 each while on the other side Manci Mincevic, Barisic Jaman and Srsen netted 3 each for guests.
