Vojvodina proves who is in charge in Serbia

Vojvodina u srpskom derbiju pokazala tko je prvak

Spartak - Vojvodina

Serbian champions Vojvodina Novi Sad confirmed status of the best Serbian team with a win over Spartak Vojput 28:25 (16:12) in Subotica.  They managed to break resistance of the home team thanks to outstanding Russian left back Aleksey Rastvorcev who netted nine goals and goalkeeper Bojan Perovic, whose 17 saves were decisive in crucial moments.

Vojvodina began with 5:1 series leading them to 12:16 after first 30 minutes.
Good defense and young Rakocija who was in shooting mood managed to bring hosts closer on 16:17 (41.), while the first leveled result since 1:1 has been seen on 22:22 in 54th minute.

Vojvodina's coach Nikola Marković was sent off after vigorous reaction on refferes' decision, which caused certain fall in the performance of his team.
However, Russian giant Rastvorcev who netted three goals in the last five minutes was enough for Vojvodina to take points from Subotica.

Dragan Kukić, Vojvodina' assistant coach:
We've played first 17 minutes like we wanted. Everything went well until that moment as we planned. However, it was obvious that our players became relaxed, which didn't decrease a good Spartak' performance. We began in series of easy taking shots which was followed by losing self-confidence. Home team recognized that and punished all our mistakes. During the middle of second-half result was leveled. We didn’t have enough players on the necessary level except Rastvorcev, who did a job in crucial moments.

Aleksey Rastvorcev, Vojvodina Novi Sad' player:
We are tired. Thanks to Spartak for a good match. Match was exhausting. We began good, I thought about victory, we made advantage quickly. Afterwards, we started to make mistakes, match became leveled, but at the end we were lucky enough to win.

Branislav Zeljković, Spartak Vojput' coach:
I want to congratulate Vojvodina who showed once again that they have better roster than us. I was optimistic before the match counted on better efficiency of my team, but also Vojvodina fatigue and more saves of my goalkeepers. Unfortunately I missed. Only motivation wasn't on  enough level to beat Vojvodina, my team had that , so I can’t put finger on my guys in that part.  But, to beat Vojvodina, you also need quality. We didn’t have that tonight, for what one of the biggest reason is bad play of our playmaker Djekic. We all know how important he is for our game. It wasn’t his day, I don’t put finger on him as he led us last year and a half. He has right to play bad once.  Quality wins.

Veselin Jelić, Spartak Vojput' line-player:
I want to congratulate Vojvodina on a win and great performance. We had preparation for this match and gave  our maximum to win tonight. Obviously, that wasn't enough. I begin from myself, it was bad 6-meter shot efficiency. We havent' been fully concentrated, and that can cost a lot against teams like Vojvodina. That happened tonight.
