Spartak Vojput - Tatran Prešov

There was no doubt about the winner of the clash in Subotica, where Tatran Prešov, once again, showed a convincing domination against Spartak Vojput winning 39:29 (20:9). After 19 goals in Prešov, Slovak champions have managed to beat the newcomers from northern Serbia with 10 goals, which keeps them on the place number 1 after nine matches with Branislav Zeljković and his guys spoiling good impression from previous home-court matches.

Slovakian champions were dominant from the first seconds of the match. Outstanding Radoslav Antl put his team on +7 after only 16 minutes - 11:4, when it was visible that home team had no strenght to be competitive tonight. Tatran had +10 after 26 minutes - 17:7.

Only Miloš Lojaničić (eight goals) in home team, was on the level necessary to play against strong rival, but that couldn't prevent away team to furiously play until the end. Tatran had +13 - 39:26 only a few minutes before the buzzer...

The most efficient in the winning squad was Antl with 12 and Peskov with 10 goals.

Vasja Furlan, Tatran Prešov' playmaker:

Everything was going according our plans. We haven’t been totally focused at the start, but we began to play better and made the difference. Home team is strong rival, they fought until the end. Match was full of strong fouls and contacts, but that is the beautiful side of handball. I want to congratulate our rivals! We have a lot of matches ahead, we play good in SEHA GAZPROM League hoping to continue in that way and make it count in the end.

Rastislav Trtik, Tatran Prešov' coach:

I wanted to give a chance to all players, because we have matches almost every day in the upcoming period. We played with best 7 in the first half, while in the second, all my players got the chance. Our rival played a good match but they've made too many technical mistakes.

Branislav Zeljković, Spartak Vojput' coach:

Tatran was much better today. They gave us a real handball lesson in the first half. We had disasterous shot efficiency in the first half, but also thanks to Tatran’s goalkeepers who were on high level. I am dissatisfied, but I don’t want to diminish goalkeepers’ performance. We were making chances, we had clear situations, but we didn’t score in both periods. I am more satisfied with the second half. We showed that we know and we can play handball, but our problem was first half. We can’t afford to embarrass ourselves in front of home fans. There is a lot of space to take positive things from this match and try to put into our system. We have also had a huge problem with Tatran’s line-players. My players couldn’t keep them, what produced a lot of goals and 7-meter throws.

Bojan Županjac, Spartak Vojput' left wing:

We've had strong rival which was highly motivated and well prepared for the match. We began bad without focus in attack. I am dissatisfied with my performance, but also other guys had to be on the higher level. We played slightly better at the start of the second half, stronger in defense, scored a few easy goals, which gave us better score at the end.
