SEHA in EHF Champions League – Vardar on top, Veszprem second...

Vardar - Tatran Prešov

Six SEHA representatives have reached half way through Champions League's group phase. After six rounds 4 clubs have a chance to go through to eight-finals.

Speaking of SEHA's trio in two strongest groups A and B Vardar are so far the best. After a dominant 34:24 home victory versus Kielce, last season's F4 participant, it is now clear that Macedonians are proving to have sky high ambitions this season being the best team in Europe's strongest club competition at the moment. By remarkable Arpad Šterbik, Timur Dibirov was 'the right man for the job' versus Kielce with 8 goals.

In group A Veszprem have after a loss in Paris (29:27) fallen down on position 2 right after PSG and Zagreb has to be satisfied with position 5 five after a surprising loss versus Besiktas in Istanbul in a match which could have brought them position 3 alongside Kiel and Flesburg. Brightest star in Veszprem was Alilović with 15 saves and in Croatian champions' roster Luka Stepančić scored 7.

In group C which has 3 SEHA representatives Meshkov are proceeding towards eight-finals clearly after a home victory in a reverse fixture against Porto (34:27) which has brough them position 2 only two points behind Spanish La Rioja.

Vojvodina and Tatran might experience 'mission impossible' catching the next round. Team from Novi Sad is currently positioned fourth with 4 points and Tatran is sixth with 2. In round 6 Vojvodina was beaten in Logrono (31:22) from La Rioja and Tatran was one goal short in Chekhov (29:28). Top performers - Miloš Orbović for Vojvodina with 4 goals and Jakub Hrstka for Tatran with 8.
