Weakened Tatran looking for another stunner against Vardar in Skopje

Татран секогаш игра добро во Скопје, но Вардар е сега фаворитот

Vardar
Tatran Prešov are always playing even above their level against Vardar in SEHA Gazprom League. In previous seasons, from four matches in Macedonian capital, Slovak team has managed to reach two victories. However, team from Prešov is now experiencing a tough period with many injured players and are coming to Skopje after a convincing 20:30 loss at home against Meshkov in Champions League.

Vardar surely are favorites in this match. Only a few days ago they have managed to beat Hungarian PICK Szeged in Champions League and it is to expect for coach Gonzales to make certain roster changes for this match. Both teams are facing this clash with 9 points from 3 matches with Tatran having two away wins behind them already.

Raul Gonzalez, Vardar’s coach:

We’ve had only one day to prepare for this match. I don’t yet know how players will react considering the fact we’ve played against PICK Szeged less than two days ago and I’m not still sure about the roster. We both have 9 points already and I believe our goal is the same - to continue with great performances and grab 3 new points to climb the table. It won’t be easy, They play 5-1 and 3-3 defence which we always find difficult to break but we’re improving our tactics from match to match. Our schedule is also a bit rough at the moment with the match against Kristianstad waiting for us on Sunday and it would be great to keep the good mood going with another win.

Strahinja Milić, Vardar’s player:

We are little bit tired, but we are preferring this rhythm, because SEHA Gazprom League is strong competition and we use it to adapt better for EHF Champions League. Tatran are a very serious opponent which deserves much respect because they are always playing well. We will come into this game fully motivated and I hope that we will gain good result, which means victory.

Rastislav Trtik, Tatran’s coach:

We know that we are going to have a very tough match on Tuesday night in Skopje. Team is weakened by 6 injured players (Rabek, Krok, Pogany, Furlan, Urban and Ivković) so we will have to really think about some playing strategy. Vardar is a very high quality team with excellent players and I hope we will play a nice match without any other injuries for our team.

Richard Wilga, Tatran’s player

With the situation of 6 injured players in our team I am thankful to our coach that he has given me a chance to participate on this game and to play against excellent team like Vardar. I will try to do my best, first not to disappoint coach and second to keep up the high tempo with Vardar. I believe it will be a nice match.
