Spartak opening SEHA Gazprom season in Subotica against Borac

Borac na premijeri SEHA Gazprom lige u Subotici

Spartak Vojput 1

‘Dudova suma’ sports hall will on Saturday (19.00 CET) host SEHA Gazprom League’s premiere in Subotica with Spartak hosting Borac. Subotica is ready for SEHA Gazprom League especially after Spartak’s draw in the last round against their biggest domestic rivals Vojvodina in Novi Sad (27:27). Borac is in tough period after suffering semi-final defeat on CL’s qualification tournament which they have hosted, in sports hall ‘Borik’ in Banja Luka last weekend. They will travel to Serbia without Nježić, Mikić and Bojinović.

Branislav Zeljković, Spartak’s coach:

We will finally play at home after three matches in road. Borac surely are a team which deserves respect. They have great players like Bojinović, Trivundža, Nikolić, Ivanišević, Mikić or Obradović. I see our advantage for Saturday in a fact they’ve just created their team two weeks ago. We have to try to use it although they know to play in such situations. We’ve showed good performance in Novi Sad and we would like to repeat it to show everyone it was not coincidence. I expect a positive result, especially considering the fact we’ll finally have Davor Basarić in our roster.

Davor Basarić, Spartak’s pivot:

I have only positive words about our next rival. I’ve already played against many of them. They are a little bit down after failure in EHF CL qualifications but they will try to restore self-confidence in Subotica. Our chance is to play quality defense. With that kind of approach, we are close to win.

Igor Rađenović, Borac’ coach:

It will be a tough match. They’ve showed how strong they are against Vojvodina in Novi Sad, where Spartak came from -6 (20:14) to 27:27 at the end. Spartak play strong 6-0 and 5-1 defense, very organized in attack. They have very good and experienced coach, they know how they have to play in every moment. It will be very tough to raise the team after tough weekend in Banja Luka. We were working on that during the whole week.

Nikola Milošević, Borac’ pivot:

We have to open the match highly motivated and forget last weekend in Banja Luka. The mistakes in both directions have to be on minimum. Spartak have a team which is together for a longer period. We have to play like first 40 minutes against Gorenje in Doboj. If we manage to repeat that performance, for 60 minutes, I believe outcome will be unquestionable.
