Vardar are second team which has this season managed to beat Veszprem, after Rhein Neckar Löwen in Champions League. This win means Veszprem will not, in their premier season in regional competition, become first team ever to finish the regular part of the season wihout lost point. However, despite of this result, both teams will play on Final tournament in Veszprem going straight to semi-finals and perhaps even meet in final match.

Hosts have opened the match in an amazing way leading 11:3 after less than 20 minutes. In the second half they have managed to make 6:1 series extending the lead to huge +9 (24:15) only 15 minutes before the end of the match.

Raul Gonzalez, Vardar’s coach

I am pleased with the game, and may team’s performance. However, we’re both focused on our CL challenges ahead of us knowing this was an ‘easier, more relaxed’ match. From now on, our whole focus is on Champions League.

Strahinja Milić, Vardar’s player

We’ve managed to do everything our coach told us to. Despite of the win, now we have to forget about it and focus on CL.

Carlos Ortega, MKB MVM Veszprem’s coach

Vardar was a better team today. We’ve had a lot of problems in both attack and defence making too many technical mistakes. Our defence was really bad today, key for our loss in my opinion. We’ve tried to get back but we were not able to do it. Vardar was much better today.

Istvan Schuch, MKB MVM Veszprem’s player

Vardar played well, we did a lot of mistakes. Now we have to focus on CL. We’ll have a chance for revenge on Final Four in Veszprem.
