Metalurg and Vardar are wounded but Macedonian derby is always top-class

Металург и Вардар „ранети“, но македонското дерби секогаш е врвна класа

Vardar - Metalurg 8 (14/15)

Macedonian derby of SEHA GSS League always draws attention and that is going to happen once again tomorrow, 20.15 CET in Boris Trajkovski sports hall despite of all injuries both teams are dealing with.

Vardar will play without their Croats - Blaženko Lacković and Igor Karačić while their rivals Metalurg are waiting for the duel without Ace Jonovski, Marko Neloski and probably Renato Vugrinec. Vardar have already managed to win the first Macedonian derby of SEHA GSS League this season with 27:21 and are having a good season which has so far brought them third place with 21 point from 9 matches and their city rivals are sixth with ten points less. While Vardar are still playing an important role in EHF’s CL Metalurg are already out of the competition with their focus turned fully towards SEHA GSS League

Lino Červar, Metalurg’s coach:

We have three tough matches waiting for us in the upcoming period after a lot of hard matches in CL and with a bad situation in our club on our back. We also have a lot of problems with injuries which gives Vardar a big favorite role. This used to be biggest derby of Balkan but things have changed slightly now.

Goce Georgievski, Metalurg’s player:

We will surely play best we can, matches against Vardar are always a huge motivation for us. Vardar are favorites at the moment, they are in much better situation, we have problems especially after a rough match against Meshkov on Sunday but we will fight until the end.

Raul Gonzalez, Vardar’s coach:

This match is important for us because we want to continue our winning streak. This is the Macedonian derby, which always gives top handball and narrow games. Metalurg are always a speciall opponent for Vardar. They are a bit weakened but I'm sure this will be a tough match for us.

Nemanja Pribak, Vardar’s player:

This game is coming after some tough CL match but that doesn't mean it won't be attractive. This is, after all, Macedonian derby! We will go for a victory and I hope we'll be able to celebrate with our fans in the end. Metalurg are a good team despite of all problems they're currently experiencing and I expect a thriller, narrow match.
