Vojvodina versus Zagreb – new players, same ambitions

Vojvodina protiv Zagreba – nova imena, iste ambicije

PPD Zagreb - Vojvodina 12 (14/15)

Serbian champions  Vojvodina from Novi Sad are, encouraged with the biggest success in club's history - a place in EHF Cup’s Group Stage face Croatian champions PPD Zagreb on Wednesday 19.30 CET in Slana Bara sports hall. The fact which makes this match even harder for Zagreb is Miroslav Kocić’ return after a short adventure in Macedonian Metalurg. On the other side, Zagreb’s coach will tomorrow have a chance to try their new player, reinforcement from French Cesson Duško Čelica as well as see how Stipe Mandalinić has recovered from his knee injury in his first match after seven month pause.

Darko Jevtić, Vojvodina’s director:

We will host a team which is one of Europe’s all time finest. They play Champions League and it will be a big challenge for us to play a quality match, especially after playing in Minsk last weekend and reaching this historical success for us. We are a bit exhausted from EHF Cup’s matches but we will surely show everything we have. We have a full roster available for this match and on top of all that Miroslav Kocić came back and he is a huge reinforcement for us.

Vuk Lazović, Vojvodina’s player:

I have to state once again how happy we are as a team to reach EHF Cup’s group stage. It really means a lot for us. Speaking of Zagreb, we are exhausted but such a great motive always ‘wakes’ certain energy in you, brings motive. I’d like to invite fans to come and support us in a match against such a good opponent.

Veselin Vujović, PPD Zagreb’s coach:

Vojvodina are a very good team, the best in Serbia and this placement in EHF’s Cup has just proved it. They have quality players like Datukashvili, Lazović, Marjanović or Elezović and surely are a tough team to play against. We expect a hard match, big fight, nothing less but also three new points which would mean a lot in F4 race.

Stipe Mandalinić, PPP Zagreb’s player:

- I am excited to be back after seven month injury break. I was really happy when coach told me that I am on roster for Novi Sad and I’ll do my best to help my team win. I am surely not in my best form right now but I’m sure I’ll catch it in a few weeks and that this injury will be just history for me.
