Tatran once again better than Vojvodina

Tatran i treći puta bolji od Vojvodine

Vojvodina - Tatran Prešov 8 (14/15)

There was no ‘third luck’ for Serbian champions in a clash against Tatran Prešov. This time result was 25:29. With this win, Tatran has managed to come a step closer towards their goal - League’s Final Four. Good thing for Vojvodina from this match is captain Elezović’ return but even he was not able to help his team reach points today. Guests have opened the match in a better way with 3:0. Hosts were in the beginning prepared to stay close to them but as minutes were going by Tatran’s difference was rising.  Orbović and Elezović were Vojvodina’s best individuals in the first half and Antl was on the other side unstoppable scoring for half-time’s final 15:12.

In the second half - the same story. Vojvodina was trying to get back into the game, and Tatran was careful and concentrated not allowing a surprise in their third this season’s clash. Kopčo, Furlan and Urban have in the end managed to make a 3:0 series deciding the match completely at 26:21.

Elezović and Marjanović have scored 7 goals each for hosts and outstanding Kristopans was once again Tatran’s best scorer, this time with 8 goals.

Peter David, Tatran’s coach:

This was our third game in two months against Vojvodina and we’ve known it will be the hardest. We have prepared really well and I have to say I am pleased with how we’ve performed today. Vojvodina is surely, despite of this loss, proved to be a good team and I wish them all the luck.

Svetislav Verkić, Tatran’s player:

We’ve done everything we’ve agreed to before the game. It took us a little less than 50 minutes to take control of the match compeletely but we’ve done it. The second half was better, especially in defence, key for the win.

Đorđe Ćirković, Vojvodina’s coach:

They’ve deserved the victory. I am very disappointed. We’ve played really bad, completely beneath our possibilities and my expectations. Our energy was bad, we’ve made to much mistakes. We’ve lost to a better team today.

Luka Arsenić, Vojvodina’s player:

We’ve made to many mistakes. We were able to stay close until 10 minutes before the end but they have then broken us up completely deciding the match. Congratulations to Tatran.
