Metalurg needed only eight minutes to decide about the outcome of the match against Serbian vice champions. Hosts from Skopje were in the end better than Radnički Kragujevac with huge 35:22 (20:11). Difference in quality was too obvious through the whole match.
The team from Kragujevac seemed like they knew they do not have any chance against clearly favorized hosts although they were playing without many of their important players like Stanić, Vugrinec, Dimovski, Jonovski or Borozan.
After Manaskov's goal in the beginning of the second half for 22:11, coach Červar has decided to give chance to younger players.
Metalurg will in the next round play against Veszprem and it will be thir final 'training' before challenges in EHF's CL.
Lino Červar, Metalurg’s coach
- My players have showed one great performance today, they've really enjoyed the game. I am glad that fans were to support us and I am also happy because many of our younger players have showed they can play on the highest level. We must now prepare and travel to Veszprem.
Dejan Manaskov, Metalurg’s player
- We have today completely outplayed our rivals. Our 5-1 defense was almost perfect. We now have to prepare for Veszprem. That match will, I believe, be the best proof of our current shape.
Nedeljko Vučkovic, Radnički’s coach
- This is for us a different dimension of handball, we were here today to learn. You really have great handball clubs like Metalurg and Vardar and I have to say it is great to see such handball. We are of course not satisfied with the result but this is reality.
Dušan Petrović, Radnički’s player- I can't say much about this match. We've had too many technical mistakes, missed too much clear goal chances. It is fair to say that we can't play such a good team like Metalurg. We have to look for points against teams on our level.
