Vardar takes revenge in Presov

Tatran - Vardar 2

Macedonian champion  Vardar has in SEHA GSS league’s derby in Presov showed high level form and taken revenge against Slovak champion Tatran 27:29 (15:13). EHF CL’s Last 16 team has managed to take some very important points and overtake the third place five matches before the end of the regular season.

Macedonians were leading lead by outstanding Russian left winger Timur Dibirov with amazing 10 goals and most of them scored in decisive moments of the match.  He was Vardar’s most important player  and one of the main reasons why Macedonians are bringing ‘full bags’ back to Skopje.

Igor Karacic is also in a very good form which he has proven with 5 new goals. Petar Angelov had 9 saves. On the other side Latvian giant Dainis Kristopans scored 8, Tomas Urban 6 for hosts.

Raul Gonzales, Vardar's coach:

It was a very tough game and hard earned three points. We had good defense today and from it we were able to create great offensive actions and score easy goals. Also our goalkeepers were also great today. It was a really good match. I think we have a very good, perspective team and I believe these two teams will meet again on Final Four.

Peter Hatalcik, Tatran’s coach:

Vardar Skopje was superbly prepared for the match. They were on high level through the whole match in both attack and defense. They simply haven’t allowe us to play our game and take control of the match. We’ve had health problems before the match and we didn’t perform on our best level today. We’ve allowed our opponents to make big goal difference in the beginning and it has decided the match.

Vardar will play next two matches against Vojvodina (at home, February 25th) and NEXE (away, March 1st).
