PPD Zagreb secure group A top spot with a dominant win over Metaloplastika
PPD Zagreb have on Tuesday night managed to seal the deal in group A officially claiming the top spot with a dominant win over Serbian vice-champions Metaloplastika Sabac (37:25).
Hosts were solid in defense from the very first minute opening the gap to six goals (12:6) by the middle of the first. Incredible Vukasin Vorkapic however led the comeback for his team reducing home-team lead to only three goals (12:9) with ten minutes left until the end of first 30. Unfortunately for guests, after Obrvan’s timeout PPD Zagreb once again started playing much better on the defensive side of the court. Todor Jandric finished the first with ten saves helping ‘Lions’ open the gap to eight (19:11) by the half-time whistle.
Hosts have managed to keep the tempo high in the second as well opening the gap to +12 (24:12) and sealing the deal in this one. Coach used the opportunity to rotate the team giving everyone a chance to catch the right rhythm with important national championship match versus Nexe being right around the corner. In the end 37:25. Valentino Ravnic and Csaba Leimeter led Zagreb offensively in this one scoring five each while on the other side Vukasin Vorkapic exploded for nine goals. Luka Ivanic added six.
In the final round of the group stage PPD Zagreb will meet Eurofarm Pelister away from home.
