Vojvodina faces off against Tatran Presov at the start of SEHA - Gazprom League Play-off

Tatran Presov will host both matches of the SEHA - Gazprom League first Play-off round (eighth-finals) against Vojvodina Novi Sad which certainly boosts chances coach Slavko Goluza and his guys have to reach quarter-finals and come another step closer to Final4 tournament. Reigning Serbian champions will arrive to Slovakia without head coach Boris Rojevic who will be replaced by his assistant Dragan Kukic as well as without some important players like goalkeeper Verkic, playmaker Pribak, line player Ratkovic, defensive specialist Vukovljak as well as left back Babic which will certainly provide their talented young players like Drasko, Sijan, Podunavac and Rogan with a chance to prove what they’re capable of when it matters the most – in the Play-off.

First match will be played on Tuesday (18.00 CET) and second on Wednesday (16:00 CET). Winners will meet Ukrainian Motor Zaporozhye in quarter-finals.

Dragan Kukic, Vojvodina Novi Sad assistant coach:

We are missing some important players but that certainly doesn’t mean we’ll arrive to Slovakia with a ‘white flag’. Our younger players are highly motivated and eager to prove what they’re capable of. We are in good shape at the moment. We’re aware of the fact Tatran are favorites in these two matches but they’ll have to deliver their best to defeat us.

Aleksandar Kurtes, Vojvodina Novi Sad player:

New game and a new chance for us to show what we can. Tatran has a great group of players and they are definitely favorites. Despite of that I believe we have a chance. We are full of confidence, especially after that win against Vardar and I believe it will really be a good match.

Slavko Goluza, Tatran Presov coach:

Vojvodina has a good team and we have a lot of respect for them. We’ve seen the match in which they’ve managed to come out on top against Vardar – they have a really good roster which is a quality mix of experience and young talent. We haven’t played a match in a while now and we’ll surely need some time to get going. Win is all that matters at the moment. We’ll play both matches at home but it surely won’t be an easy task for us. We have to focus on the first match which will be crucial.

Oliver Rábek, Tatran Presov player:

We’re expecting two difficult matches. The positive thing is that we’ll play both matches at home. Vojvodina has a very good team which they managed to show against Motor and Vardar. We have to be fully focused from the very first minute. Like I always say - match will be as difficult as we make it for ourselves. If we deliver a good, responsible outing in which we’ll use our chance I believe we can reach two wins.
