For both teams, Vardar and Meshkov, Saturday game in Skopje (17,45 SC Kale) will be crucial. Macedonian champion needs points to stay in game right behind Tatran and Zagreb CO, and Belarus team is on the other side desperately fighting to catch place on F4 tournament.
Last season Meshkov and Vardar have both participated inF4 tournament in Skopje, with Meshkov placed the best after regular season. Victory will also probably heal wounds from EHF Cup after losing to Füchse Berlin.
Currently Vardar is on third place with 22 points from 10 games (two more to play in December), and Meshkov is on fifth position with 15 points from seven games (three more games to play in December). Any failure on these three games means step far from F4 tournament for Meshkov.
Vardar is satisfied with their results so far in SEHA GSS league and EHF Champions League hoping to end year with two victories, one against Meshkov and versus Metalurg on December 17. On Saturday game Slovenian Miladin Kozlina will debut for Vardar as a left back but it is still unknown whether Kozlina will be able to play full match.
- Our next opponent is one of the best teams in the league, with similar quality like Zagreb, Tatran, Metalurg or Vardar. They have very good coach, also a roster with international players, they never give up, and as I said, they are very close to our quality. But we are well prepared, we are almost complete, and we will play against them with our best players at the moment, said Andon Boskovski, Vardar coach.
After Vardar's excellent 45 minutes versus Barcelona last week in EHF Champions League, everyone in the club is confident that players will last week's performance.
- The game against Brest will be very tough. They have good coach, also a team that has quality to compete for SEHA GSS Final four , but if our performance will be similar like against Barcelona, strong in the defence, I believe that we will win this game, said Alex Dujshebaev.
Main goal for Meshkov on the other side is reaching F4. But to stay on the right course, team needs to win in Skopje, and to stay close to top of the table. If they leave Skopje without points, then Meshkov will be much beyond their wishes.
- I always have special feelings here, because of atmosphere. We are in position where we are, for us each game is important. From the other side, it is always hard to play against Vardar, but we will do everything that we can for a win. We will try to use their weaknesses, but also, we have to be on the highest level to achieve good result, said Zeljko Babic, coach of Meshkov Brest.
In Skopje, two brothers will face each other. Ivan Karacic plays for Meshkov and his brother Igor is member of Vardar. Older, Ivan expects to see full hall in Skopje, to feel good atmosphere.
- We didn’t have so much time to prepare for Vardar, because we played EHF game against Fuchse Berlin, so, we had only two days before this game. But, our teams have similar quality; we will give our best to achieve a good result. I know that audience here is fantastic so I expect a spectacular game, said Ivan Karacic.
