EHF EURO 2020, Day 7: Hungary in main round, Russia say goodbye to the competition

On day 7 of the EHF EURO 2020, Hungary and Russia played their last matches of preliminary phase. Hungary came out victorious from encounter against Iceland and secured their place in the main round as well as first position in Group E. On the other side, Russia faced third defeat which means their EHF EURO 2020 adventure has come to an end. 

(Group E) Iceland - Hungary 18:24 (12:9) 
In their last match of preliminary phase, Hungary have managed to deliver their second win at EHF EURO 2020. They outplayed Iceland with 24:18 and booked their tickets for the next phase. The first half was completely different to the second one. Iceland had the lead and dominated on the court in the first 30 minutes, but Hungarians made complete comeback and turned the result in their favour in the second. Marton Szekely was a part of this victory with one save between the posts. 

(Group E) Russia - Denmark 28:31 (15:12) 
Russia had different ending to preliminary phase than Hungary. They finished off the competition in Group E with loss against hosts, Denmark, who also said goodbye to the competition. Russians were more confident on the court in the first half and went on half time break with 3 goals advantage. But, Denmark woke up in the second one and manaed to celebrate in front of their fans. Igor Soroka was an important part of the Russian team as he scored 6 goals, while Daniil Shishkarev scored 5. Alexander Shkurinskiy gave his contribution with 4 goals and Gleb Kalarash netted once for Russia.
