Meshkov Brest – Belarusian champions chasing new opportunities
Meshkov Brest have been with us for the past seven seasons. They only missed the first edition of the SEHA – Gazprom League but they joined the SEHA family in the second season. Soon after, they proved that they deserve to be here and that they can do a lot. Belarusian champions came close to winning the SEHA trophy two times, but they didn't manage to go all the way to the top. They were runner-ups in the seasons 2013/2014 and 2014/2015. But, that didn't ruin their spirit. They are fighting more and more every season and are showing what the real team work can do.
In the upcoming season, Meshkov Brest are going to seek their chance for winning the SEHA – Gazprom League in Group B. Along the way, they will meet with Croatian champions PPD Zagreb, Eurofarm Rabotnik from Bitola and the newcomers, Beijing Sport University. They will also play with the returnees from Hungary, Telekom Veszprem and Serbian Metaloplastika.
With amazing achievements back home, 11 times Belarusian champions will also be a part of the EHF Champions League. They will try to improve their results from previous seasons as they finished their Champions League journey in the Last 16 stage last season. But, their persistence is going to pay off and open a lot of new doors for them.
On that path, Meshkov will have the help of some new faces. The club has welcomed Nemanja Obradovic from Wisla Plock, Branko Kankaras from Istres and Daniel Andrejev. But, the biggest name on the welcome list is definitely William Accambray, well-known French star and a former Celje Pivovarna Lasko and Veszprem player. With him, another player from Celje, Jaka Malus, has joined the team.
Petar Djordjic, on the other hand, decided to leave Meshkov, as well as Sime Ivic, Vid Poteko and Pavel Horak. Besides new players, the team from Brest has also welcomed a new coach. Raul Alonso took over the head coach position as Manolo Cadenas left the club.
In the 9th edition of the SEHA – Gazprom League, Meshkov Brest are going to be one of the main competitors for winning the league. The team can rely on their amazing goalkeeper, Ivan Pesic as well as their stellar right wing, Darko Djukic. Well-known Simon Razgor and brilliant Sandro Obranovic are also in the squad, as well as Alexander Shkurinskiy.
This new season brings fresh opportunities for making good results. Maybe this will be the time they finally take one step further and finish the season with the SEHA trophy in their hands.
