PPD Zagreb win the Croatian Cup against Dubrava
The Festival of Handball held in Porec ended successfully for the Croatian champions PPD Zagreb. Branko Tamse’s players won the prestigious domestic trophy for the record-breaking 26th time. In the final, PPD Zagreb were better than another team from Zagreb – Dubrava, 35:28 (19:11).
In the final match, Bicanic scored 8 goals with 4 assists, David Mandic added 6 goals, while Srsen and Bozic Pavletic had 5 goals each. Urh Kastelic recorded 9 saves. For Dubrava, former PPD Zagreb player, Petar Medic scored 7 goals and had 5 assists, future Nexe centre back Ivan Dumencic chipped in 4 goals with 5 assists, while another PPD Zagreb youngster Marko Racic scored 4 goals.
In the semi-final, PPD Zagreb defeated Nexe for the fourth time this season. It was 33:31, and Ivan Srsen shined with 10 goals. Jaganjac’s 11 goals, and Car’s 13 saves were not enough for the team from Nasice to upset the Croatian champions.
This was the 26th Cup trophy for PPD Zagreb, who will look to win their 28th national title in the domestic championship.
