Goluza: ‘’We’ll try to grab the opportunity if it emerges and stun Vardar’’

Derby

Tatran and Vardar will start SEHA Gazprom Sunday off in Presov at 17.35 CET with a match in which hosts will, on wings of a dominant performance and a big win in Novi Sad, look to stun reigning regional league champs and one of the best European teams – Vardar Skopje.

In the last round, Slavko Goluza and his players have managed to shake off kind of a surprising first-round loss from Bucharest delivering a splendid performance against Vojvodina despite of playing without three of their most important back players. Vardar have on the other side from the very beginning of the new season started proving they’ll once again be force to be reckoned with sitting on top of League’s table after two rounds with an incredible +21 goal difference. Can ‘Red&Black’ finally be stopped or will they once again break their own winning-streak record making it 29 games without a loss?

Slavko Goluza, Tatran coach:

Tough match against a very good opponent is ahead of us. I don’t think I have to describe Vardar as we all know how good of a team they are. Our goal is of course to deliver the best possible performance and do everything we can to grab an opportunity if it emerges to achieve a positive result. Vardar are absolute favorites in this one of course but we’ll do our best to stun them.

Tomáš Číp, Tatran player:

Vardar are a top team of course. Despite of that our mindset remains the same and that is when we’re playing at our home, in front of our fans we will each time give our best to celebrate in the end. We’ll try to take advantage of the atmosphere are win the match.

Roberto Garcia Parrondo, Vardar coach:

Tatran are playing well and have a lot of experience in this competition. By that, they will definitely be additionally motivated against us. We are on the other hand still dealing with certain injuries but despite of that our goal is to deliver best possible performance. We’ll once again look to use the match in order to raise our form and prepare for the start of EHF Champions League.

Martin Popovski, Vardar player:

Tatran are our well-known rivals whose ambition is always to reach the Final4 tournament. They have an experienced, quality team which showed two different faces in first two outings of the season in my opinion. It’s never easy to defeat them in Presov which is why we see this match as a serious test before Champions League opener against Montpellier.
