Skopje became handball capital city of Europe

With two teams in SEHA league, Vardar and Metalurg, two teams in Women's Regional league, Vardar SCBT and ZRK Metalurg, and three teams in European Champions League, Vardar, Metalurg and Vardar SCBT, Skopje received confirmation as handball capital city in Europe.

No one town in Europe can be proud with success like this. In SEHA league, only Skopje has two teams, both twice participant at Final 4 tournaments. Vardar is currently vice champions and champions from 2011, and Metalurg is 2011 finalist.

Handball is No. 1 in Macedonia, if taken into account that both men's clubs in Skopje last two years are among Top 4 teams of SEHA League, and Metalurg last season reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League, and women's teamof Metalurg is currently Regional Vice Champion and two seasons playing the Final 4 tournaments.

Metalurg and Vardar will play in the EHF Champions League group stage together in as the team from Avtokomanda successfully passed qualification. Vardar as domestic champion placed directly.

In past Macedonia once had European champion, Kometal GP in women competition in season 2001/2002, and same year was the winner of the European Super Cup. Team also was finalist in 2000 and 2005.
