Saracevic takes over as PPD Zagreb coach, Mandalinic to Berlin with immediate effect
Last week PPD Zagreb went through fourth coaching change in only a year. Board's newest choice is Zlatko Saracevic - former both Yugoslavian and Croatian national team player who spent three years of his playing career in Zagreb. In his first game as a head-coach 'Lions' suffered a tough 24:32 loss in EHF Champions League against Barcelona on Thursday. Saracevic hopes to start SEHA Gazprom League campaign off in a better way with Serbian vice-champions Dinamo Pancevo visiting Sutinska vrela sports hall on Friday.
However, another problem emerged for Croatian champs during the last week with their best player of the first part of the season Stipe Mandalinic joining his new club Füchse Berlin with an immediate effect instead of after the European championship as first deal suggested. Berlin 'Foxes' insisted for Mandalinic to join the club as soon as possible as they are facing a really harsh schedule in December. That means PPD Zagreb will now have to find a way to use Damir Bicanic more as he will now be promoted to team's first choice left back. Matej Hrstic should also see some more minutes with coach Saracevic slowly easing both Tin Lucin and Domagoj Pavlovic into the rotation.
