Vardar with the Super Globe bronze in Qatar
SEHA Gazprom champions and EHF Champions League winners Vardar have with a convincing 37:19 win over Al Saad managed to reach bronze on Super Globe tournament in Qatar. Macedonians were previously in quarter-finals better than Naft-O-Gas-Gachsaran with 30:22 but ended up losing semi-final against Barcelona with 29:32. In bronze-medal match 'Red and Black' have with a strong outing in opening 15 of the second half managed to crush their opponents sailing off for an early 22:12 lead which sealed the deal in this one.
Semi-final match against FC Barcelona was as tense and narrow as everyone expected with reigning CL champions managing to keep the match alive until final 5 minutes. Unfortunately for their fans they lacked focus in key moments opening a chance for Barcelona to fight for the title. Middle part of the first half was crucial in this one with Spanish defense keeping Vardar scoreless for about 10 minutes which was more than enough time for them to enlarge the gap to 3:10 making it a lot harder for Vardar to catch them which they eventually did with only 5 minutes left on the clock but there was simply not enough strength and focus left for them to go all the way.
After the semi-final triumph against Vardar, Spanish champions were in final match of the tournament better than defending champions Füchse Berlin. In the end it was 29:25.
