Potocnik and Medved combine for 23 as Gorenje down Izvidjac

Izvidjac CO - Gorenje Velenje

Izvidjac did not manage to surprise Gorenje and reach second SEHA win of the season. Slovenian vice-champions have already after 30 minutes almost sealed the deal with big 14:20 lead - in the end 32:36. Gregor Potocnik and Niko Medved were absolutely marvelous in this one combining for 23 (12/11) while on the other side duo David Mandic - Ante Grbavac led hosts scoring 7 each.  Gorenje have with this win, in a match which was their last in the regular part of the season, climbed the league table reaching sixth place which they will keep in case Metalurg fail to take  at least a point from Nasice later today.

Borut Plaskan, Gorenje Velenje coach:
We were aware this was never going to be an easy game. I can say I'm satisfied with the first half but I also have to say we were functioning well throughout the whole match. We've panicked a bit in the second but we eventually made it. Well-deserved win for us in my opinion.

Zdenko Grbavac, Izvidjac CO coach:
We've entered the match badly providing them with an opportunity to open the gap early. In the second half we were better, reached -2 but we were not lucky to turn the match over. Injuries are slowing us down a bit at the moment but such things are normal and expected in sports.

Gregor Potocnik, Gorenje Velenje player:
We've prepared well for the encounter knowing it won't be easy. We've opened the gap early, in opening 15 and were focused enough to keep it that way until the end.

Josip Grbavac, Izvidjac CO player:
We've opened the match badly, weak. In the second half we've managed to get back into this one but did not completely close the gap. I'd like to thank guests on a fair game.
