Metalurg's late run brings Gorenje down as Ilic posts 7/3 offensive line

Металург со победа се прости од своите гледачи во СЕХА лигата

Metalurg - Gorenje Velenje
Macedonian vice-champions Metalurg have managed to win last match in front of home audience in SEHA Gazprom League this season beating Gorenje 28:25. For both clubs this was just a "control match" before the start of domestic championships as Metalurg and Gorenje remain in the middle of SEHA League table.

Gorenje were in control until 15 minutes before the end even being 4 goals up (23:19) but Metalurg's late run turned the match over bringing them victory. Vanja Ilic played a perfect match for hosts posting a great offensive line scoring 7 on 7/7 shooting and adding 3 assists. Gregor Potocnik was on the other side leading Gorenje with 8.

Borut Plaskan, Gorenje coach:
We were making unnecessary mistakes in attack. It's a pity to lose third match in a row this way. We have three more matches until the end of SEHA League's regular season and hopefully we will turn things in our favor in last matches. We were lacking focus late into this one and Metalurg were ready to take advantage of it.

Gregor Potocnik, Gorenje player:
We were in control of the match for 45 minutes having 4-goal advantage but we've given them chance to come back by comitting too many technical mistakes. This is not the right way to play that's for sure.

Lino Cervar, Metalurg coach:
Gorenje were able to enlarge the gap due to good attack and solid defense. It was obvious we won't be able to come back into this one without additional effort in the second and that's exactly what happened luckily for us. We were focused, showed fighting spirit  and discipline in the end. Fans were great too. It's nice to win in the final home match of the regular part of the season. We have to keep on fighting.

Martin Tomovski, Metalurg player: We've had bigger desire to win. We've opened the match badly but managed to stabilize our game. In the second part it was played goal-for-goal and at the end we've reached the win. I'm glad about that, because this was the last SEHA duel for us this season in front of home audience.
