Reigning SEHA Gazprom League champions Telekom Veszprem and their biggest rivals in the competition - Vardar Skopje have played a 28:28 (12:12) draw in a replay of last season's final. Home team had a real chance to win three points in Veszprem Arena which would bring them closer to SEHA Final 4 and even the first place at the end of the regular part of the season, but Macedonians fought well until the end despite of being 3 goals down with less than three minutes left to play, catching an important point with Igor Karacic’s buzzer-beater. Ilic netted 6 for hosts, Cindric as much for guests.

First of all I want to congratulate Vardar. They are a very strong team with a very good coach. Our team fought well and played a good match. In the first half Angelov was fantastic, and we’ve made a lot of mistakes. I am happy we could make a comeback and take the lead. Our young goalkeeper, Borbély was great, I think he has a bright future ahead of him. We were not lucky in the last seconds, but we did our best today supported by our fantastic fans.

Gergő Iváncsik, Veszprem player:
Really good game, game of two teams which have a lot of matches on their schedule and are tired but are always eager to show their best on court. It is positive that we were fighting all the way until the end of the match, but it did not end as we hoped it will. We need to make an analysis and keep going on.

Congratulations to Veszprém, they are a very good team. In the first half we were very good, Angelov was amazing and I was also satisfied with our fast breaks. We are very happy with the first place in SEHA League right now.

We came to Veszprém after two lost games and I am happy that our team played a good game after these losses. Everybody knows that it is not easy to play in Veszprém. Result of the game is fair, we were in better form during the first half with the brilliant goalkeeper efficiency helping us a lot. During the second half Veszprém were better but we’ve managed to level it in the end.
