Mikler and Gajic deliver as Veszprem easily pass Celje

Mikler és Gajic vezetésével a Veszprém könnyedén győzte le a Celjét

Veszprem - Celje

Telekom Veszprem have managed to celebrate fourth win in SEHA Gazprom League beating Celje Pivovarna Lasko, once again with 32:25 (17:13). Visitors were eager to show what they can in ''Veszprem Arena" but Xavi Sabate's guys were despite of that able to stay in control of the match and celebrate easily. First line-up of reigning SEHA champions with Ilic, Palmarsson and Nagy supported by oustanding Roland Mikler (15 saves) between the posts has managed to enlarge the gap to 5 (6:1) in opening seven minutes of the match.
Celje's coach Branko Tamse has however found the way to put his team back in the game, but even solid performances of Zarabec, Mlakar and Lesjak weren't enough for a surprising turnover. Slovenians came closer to 9:7 in 15th minute, but they weren't able to save their net in crucial moments. They were however able to stay close until final 15 minutes with Veszprem's long bench and experience deciding the encounter.

Dragan Gajic was top scorer in the winning team with six goals. Ziga Mlakar scored seven for guests.

Xavi Sabate, Telekom Veszprem coach:
I want to congratulate our players and  the whole team on such a good match after only one training which we've had to prepare for this game. I would also like to congratulate Celje on a very good start of the season - results and playing style. Celje play very good handball, they have one of the best fast-breaks in Europe. We've had some injuries during last week. Terzic couldn't play today and he is very important for us in defense. Players have today showed commitment. We've played a high-level match in defense with amazing Mikler once again. Key for success was in defense, with good Roli and fast-breaks. We've played good in attack, especially with all our line-players. I am proud of our players. We are working very hard with young Hungarian players. Young Fekete was fantastic today. They have to continue working as they are doing so far this season. It is very important for us.

Branko Tamse, Celje Pivovarna Lasko coach:
I want to congratulate Veszprem on a good match. They were prepared well for us. Their defense forced us to take some difficult shots and make some mistakes in attack. There were some minutes when I was happy about how we were playing but tonight Veszprem had a lot of good minutes.

Gal Marguc, Celje Pivovarna Lasko player:
I would like to congratulate Veszprem on a good game. We haven't been on the level which we should play on in case we want to compete with them. Our defense wasn't good enough, while in attack we've missed too many open shots. Mikler saved many shots and then, with counter-attack, they were able to enlarge the gap.

Gasper Marguc, Telekom Veszprem right wing:
I agree with all speakers, we've played well today, especially in defense. Mikler was really good, we ran a lot of fast-breaks. We are happy that we've had the match under control and of course for new points. Now, we are focusing on the weekend and the match in Plock.
