Another dominant game for Vardar

Уште една доминантна игра на Вардар

Vardar - Gorenje

In their seventh game this season in SEHA Gazprom League, Vardar has managed to secure sixth win in a row beating Gorenje Velenje with 40-32 (21-12) after another dominant performance. Vardar will that way remain on top being the only team without defeat.

Slovenian team was not able to resist Vardar's furry for long, with Vardar's attack functioning great once again having 34 goal scoring average so far this season. First half was crucial with hosts enlarging the gap to 9 (21:12). Goalkeeper Angelov was great with 7 saves in that period being the key for Vardar's dominance today. Home team's 6-0 defense was also functioning great and there was simply no way for Gorenje to stun favored opponent.

Raul Gonzalez, Vardar coach:
I want to congratulate Gorenje because they've displayed very good handball, but I also want to thank my players for playing with commitment and focus. In the first half we've played well with 6-0 defense having Angelov in great mood and enlarging the gap to 9. In the second half we didn’t manage to stay at the same level but we have to understand that as we are a bit tired after Champions League's game in Sweden last Sunday.

Petre Angelov, Vardar player:
We are continuing to improve our game from match to match and I hope we'll achieve our main goal of the season. We just have to go step by step. This game was very useful for Saturday’s game against Meshkov Brest in Champions League.

Marko Sibila, Gorenje coach:
First of all I want to congratulate Vardar on all good games they've played this season so far, especially on their tonight's performance. Regarding our team, we've tried to play as good as possible but it wasn't well enough after all. We've made some mistakes but as you know, we have several new players that need some time to adapt. However, we are looking forward to this season and I hope that audience enjoyed tonight’s game.

Niko Medved, Gorenje player:
We've opened the match badly and Vardar knew how to use it. We were much better in second half both in attack and defense, but it wasn’t enough to come back into this one. They've deserved this win and I wish them good luck this season in all competitions.
