Meshkov secures an important victory in Presov

Meshkov si zabezpečil dôležité víťazstvo v Prešove

Tatran - Meshkov

Belarusian champions Meshkov Brest have managed to secure a win in Presov against Tatran (25:30) where it is never easy to take points which might prove to be a key victory later in the season.

It is never easy to beat the team from Presov in Slovakia and that was well visible today with Tatran equalizing at 18:18 after Sadovyi's goal despite of being 4 goals down after first 30 minutes. They were also leveled at 20:20 but after that Meshkov enlarged the gap mostly due to Pavel Atman who was in a great mood late into the second half finishing the match with 4 goals.

This was third win in a row for Meshkov in Slovakia in three consecutive seasons. Rabek was home team's best scorer with 8 goals, Hrstka added 6 but even that was not enough to stop Meshkov which was well motivated to reach a new win after losing against Kielce at home in Champions League's first round. Kristopans was their best scorer of the night with 6 goals with Razgor and Stojkovic also being in good mood scoring 4 each.

Rastislav Trtik, Tatran coach:
I am glad we’ve played this game in such a good pace with the great support from our fans. We’ve managed the match from the tactical point of view very well delivering quality performance. We’ve even equalized the game in 45th minute. Finally we did not manage to close it the way we wanted. I would like to thank my team and spectators. I am proud of the way we’ve managed to play throughout three quarters of the match.

Marek Pales, Tatran player:
We went to the court to fight for the victory. In the first half we were not so successful, but in the second half we’ve managed to equalize it. We did not manage to achieve more in the end of the game.

Sergey Bebeshko, Meshkov Brest coach:
We did not deliver a performance as we did in the Champions League. Tatran has today proved to be a quality team. Hard fought victory for us. In the end of the match we’ve showed class. I want to praise players for fighting until the end.

Dainis Kristopans, Meshkov Brest player:
Hats off for Tatran and their performance despite of a long and tiring journey from Montpellier. In the first half we’ve played very good in defense. Later we’ve missed many chances and Tatran’s goalies were excellent. They have managed to level the match but in the end we were able to take three points.
