Vardar once again prove they know how to beat Veszprem

Само Вардар знае како се победува Веспрем во СЕХА лигата

Vardar - Veszprem

Vardar remains the only team in SEHA Gazprom league that knows how to play against Telekom Vesprem as they beat reigning champions with 22:29 (12:16).

Vardar has history of good performances and victories against Veszprem and today, with a bit less than 15 minutes left on the clock it was already clear that fans in Jane Sandaski will celebrate with Vardar being already 6 goals up against Hungarians.

Two time champion of SEHA Gazprom league and current EHF CL vice champion, this evening, had no solution for Vardar’s attacks, and even less idea of how to score against Strahinja Milic, who finished with 11 saves, all very important to make possible for his team teammates to stay calm during the attack.

Vesprem started with the strongest team and had the lead only in 6th minute with 3:2 after which Vardar took over initiative dominating the game.

Raul Gonzalez, Vardar’s coach:

Whenever we play against Telekom Veszprem, we have good motivation, because for me they are the best team in the world, and we respect them a lot. We played well because we were motivated. After the last match against Metalurg this was a good opportunity to show that we can play better. Our goalkeeper Milic saved a lot of balls, and we had a good fastbreaks.

Strahinja Milic, Vardar’s player:

This is very important victory, primarily mentally. Next game for us is versus PPD Zagreb in three days. Perhaps in first two games this season versus Meshkov and Metalurg we played poorly in terms of how we train. We can play much better.

Javier Sabate, Telekom Vezsprem coach:

Vardar played very well. They were one step away from EHF F4 last season and now they are among biggest favorites again. They played well in defense, aggressively. We played very slowly, or perhaps because Vardar played well in defense. In the second half we played better defense, but in the first half Igor Karacic and Luka Cindric were unstoppable. Goalkeeper Milic was also fantastic. He saved many balls when it was most needed for Vardar. We wanted, but we could not overtake the lead. We have to work much better, and show how hard we are working. I have trust in my players. They have to learn from this game.

Garcia Ugalde, Telekom  Veszprem's player:

Maybe we had a bit misleading picture from how Vardar played against Metalurg and Meshkov in first two matches but Vardar tonight played differently. Our defense was not good. Vardar is a good team, and can reach far this season.
