Arsenić beats the buzzer for a point, Tatran secure fifth position

In their fourth encounter of the season Vojvodina and Tatran have played a 26:26 (12:17) draw. In their Champions League’s clash guys from Novi Sad did not score in the last second for a tie but that was not the case today with Nikola Marković’ guys managing to close the -5 gap from 44th minute (17:22) and reach a point on Nikola Arsenić’ buzzer-beater.
Match was leveled until 10 minutes before the end of the first but Tatran have then on wings of Čip and Krok managed to create 8:2 series to take the lead. Hosts have started playing much better on the defensive end of the court in the second half slowly reducing the gap until 23:23 with little less than 10 minutes left on the clock. When Kopčo scored for 24:26 three minutes before the end it seemed to be over but Marjanović and top scorer Arsenić (8) would not agree. Čip and Sadovyi have scored 6 each for the away team.
Rastislav Trtik, Tatran’ coach:
A really narrow, interesting match. Spectators can be satisfied. We did not play in defense. Problem for us were Kopčo’ two exclusions early in the first half so we were forced to change our defense a few times which did not end well. We’ve reached our goal and that was at least a point to secure fifth place.
Nikola Marković, Vojvodina’ coach:
Our wish was to continue the winning streak after the victory in Banja Luka last week. Who knows what would have happened if we scored a goal at 24:24 when we played with one player more and when Arsenić hit the bar. Tatran was better for 45 minutes, but we’ve managed to reach a point.
Vasja Furlan, Tatran’ player:
We’ve missed lot of chances. Well deserved point for Vojvodina. Opponent was very aggressive in defense. My team did not play good in attack but we’ve managed to meet our goal which was to finish the regular part of the season on fifth place.
Nikola Arsenić, Vojvodina’ player:
We have achieved our goal in the last second, so we were lucky I guess yes. We were fighting well through the whole match. I hope we’ll proceed with good plays in 2016.
