Chance for Veszprem to get back on top at home against Spartak

Esély a Veszprémnek, hogy visszakerüljön a csúcsra a Spartak ellen

Veszprem - Spartak Vojput

Reigning SEHA Gazprom champions Veszprem are set to get back on regional League’s road again after a triumph in Champions League in Istanbul against Besiktas 34:38 on Saturday. Next rival are Serbian vice-champions Spartak Subotica who are ready to give their best after a home defeat (29:35) against PPD Zagreb.

Xavi Sabate’ guys have already, along with Vardar, secured a place on League’s Final Four but will on Saturday have a chance to get back on League’s top with two matches less than Macedonians.

It is still unknown whether Županjac (arm) and Knežević (ankle) will be able to play due to injuries with coaching staff expecting them to be on court.

Xavi Sabate, Veszprem’ coach:

After our Champions League’s game against Besiktas and the travel back from Istanbul, we did not have too much time for preparation for our next SEHA League game against Spartak Vojput. Stepping on the court is always tough two days after a hard game. We are going play at home and I am sure that like always we will play against our rival giving them maximum respect. Those players who will be 100% ready will find their place in the roster.

Andreas Nilsson, Veszprem’ line-player:

It is a game we have to win at home, of course. We did not have too much time to prepare for Spartak Vojput because we’ve had an important Champions League’s game in Istanbul on Saturday. But of course, we have to win in every game, there is no other option for us in this match.

Branislav Zeljković, Spartak Vojput’ coach:

We are in trouble against such a quality rival as Veszprem. One more problem is that we will play second match in two days, but we have what we have at the moment. We don’t except anything special in terms of result. It is well-known that Veszprem is much better team. However, we will try to give our maximum regardless our tiredness after the match against Zagreb. We’ll try to improve on defense and I expect goalkeeper Abadžić to step up his game.

Radule Radulović, Spartak Vojput’ goalkeeper:

We’ll play against one of the best teams in Europe. I can only promise that we will give our maximum. We will try to play as well as possible to ensure best result. Players are tired, we’ve just finished with preps and SEHA’s second part started a week ago and we want to finish it in the best possible way.
